Investment banking internships in London and Ireland
London recruits earlier than anywhere else in Europe, with summer applications closing in October for a placement the following year, and English is the requirement rather than a local language. AnalystClass tracks 15 opportunities here, 5 of them open right now. Every record links to the employer's own posting and shows the date it was last checked.
Market observations made 7 August 2026. Each row carries its own check date.

How internships work here
Summer analyst, applied for a year ahead
The standard route, and the one with the longest lead time in Europe. One London posting we read for a summer 2027 internship closes on 11 October 2026 and describes full time employment starting in July 2028. You are applying almost two years before the job you are really competing for.
Off cycle, on its own calendar
Advertised separately from the summer route and opening at a different time of year. One firm states that its off cycle applications open in winter for a September start or in August for a January start, which means an off cycle window is often live while the summer route is shut.
Ten weeks, June to August
One London programme we read runs ten weeks across June to August, with off cycle placements averaging three to six months. Shorter than the six month norm in France and Germany.
The Super Day
One London process we read ends in a Super Day after a CV review and a first round. If you have prepared for a European style single final interview, the format here is different: a compressed day of consecutive interviews, and it is the stage most people underestimate.
Where the roles are
Every posting we verified in this region is London. Dublin appears nowhere, including on the pan-European job boards that list a UK and Ireland category, so treat this as a London page with an Irish label rather than a two-country market.
The bulge brackets and the independents recruit here on the same calendar, which is unusual. In most European markets the boutiques run rolling processes while the large banks run dated ones; in London both tend to be dated and both tend to be early.
Several firms run London alongside a continental office on one process. Houlihan Lokey names London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt together, and Centerview treats London and Paris as separate offices within one application system.
When to apply
September and October is the cluster that matters. One firm opens its summer applications in September and closes them in October. Another states its 2027 summer internship will open at the start of October 2026. A London summer programme we read opens in autumn 2026, and one closes on 11 October 2026.
One firm states its 2026 programme is now closed and names the reopening date rather than leaving it open ended, which is rarer than it should be and worth trusting when you see it.
One London firm says applications typically open in August. Typically is doing work in that sentence: no date is given and no vacancy was listed when we checked.
Because most of these processes are described as rolling once open, the closing date is a backstop rather than a target. Applying in the last week of an October window is competing against people who applied in September.
Language requirements
English is the requirement. One London posting states that fluency in English is essential and that proficiency in any European language would be highly desirable, which is the inverse of how German speaking and Nordic markets treat language.
That makes London the accessible route into European investment banking for a student without a second language, and it is worth being explicit about, because students from smaller markets often assume the opposite.
One firm states an expectation of a 2:1 degree or equivalent. That is an academic threshold rather than a language one, but it is the kind of stated bar that is easy to miss.
What a local applicant knows
One firm states that applications to multiple offices will not be reviewed, and asks candidates not to email several people at the firm. Both of those are normal behaviour elsewhere in Europe and disqualifying here. Read the application instructions on a London process as rules rather than as etiquette.
The single most common mistake is treating London like the continent and applying in the spring. By spring the summer cycle has been closed for months.
London job pages expire in ways that look healthy. Two we checked returned a normal page carrying no error at all: one served a search portal, another served the firm's homepage under a link that no longer existed. If a saved link stops showing the role you remember, assume it has gone rather than that you have misremembered.
What this page cannot tell you
Everything above was observed on official postings on 7 August 2026. Nothing is inferred from general knowledge about this market, so where an employer stated nothing, this page says nothing.
The employer's own page is the source of truth. Roles are filled, withdrawn and re-dated without notice.
Coverage reflects firms whose recruiting is publicly documented, which under-represents smaller boutiques that hire through networks.
AnalystClass is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any firm listed here.
Save the roles you are pursuing, record each stage from research to outcome, and prepare for the interviews that follow with a structured curriculum and four practice formats. Where a firm has no public opening, AnalystClass gives you outreach guidance and a ready-to-edit email rather than a dead end.
